Islamic Science and Research Academy, ISRA, is an academic institute founded on the desire to properly educate Muslims in Islamic studies, produce and support religious scholars, provide resources and programs for the Muslim-American community and build bridges amongst the communities in which we live in. ISRA foundation was founded in 2015 by Mufti Mohammed Wasim Khan and began as an online initiative, but has now evolved into an organization with a diverse academic presence by the will of Allah subhanawata’ala.
The vision of ISRA is to support and foster the intellectual development of the Muslim community through traditional and contemporary teaching methods in order to build and equip the scholars of tomorrow, InshaAllah.
Mufti Mohammed Wasim Khan

Bio: Mufti Mohammed Wasim Khan was born in Dallas, Texas and began his journey in Islamic knowledge at a very young age. After spending considerable months improving his Quran recitation at Jami’atul ‘Ilm Wal-Huda in UK, Mufti Wasim embarked on a decade-long ‘Aalim training program. After studying in 4 different continents, Mufti Wasim graduated in 2010 from the prestigious Dar-ul-Uloom Zacharriyah University. After this Mufti Wasim stayed for another 2 years at the same university to complete the Iftaah course (where a scholar learns the discipline of giving fatawa) and for further specialization in the sciences of Tafseer, Hadith and Fiqh – fields in which he holds multiple ijazaat in. Mufti Wasim currently holds the second shortest sanad in the world to the Prophet Mohammed (s) through the sanad of Maulana Mekki Hijazi. Amongst his most prominent teachers are Mufti
Ridhaa ul Haq, Sheikh Makki Hijazi, Sheikh Shoaib Arnaoot, Sheikh Muhammed Awwamah and Sheikh Mohammed Ali Saabuni.
Mufti Wasim is a regular speaker across North America at conferences, workshops, youth programs, social services events and development programs. In 2015, Mufti Wasim presented his thesis on abortion at the American Muslim Jurist Assembly (AMJA), making him the youngest person to ever present a paper at this prestigious conference. To further his academic interests, in 2014 Mufti Wasim joined the Institute of Islamic Education in Illinois as a full time teacher. Here he taught Aqeedah, Hadith and Fiqh among other subjects. Mufti Wasim is currently the Director and Dean of ISRA Foundation, an online academic institution which develops courses and classes for college students and professionals. in 2016, Mufti Wasim organized a national fatwa hotline comprising of multiple scholars. This hotline has allowed for people to text their questions in and get a response within a day. He also founded the “Khateeb Notes” initiative, a medium whereby 300 scholars from 6 continents exchange weekly Khutbah notes.
Mufti Wasim is currently a travelling Imam in the city of Houston, Texas and is involved in extensive counselling, interfaith work, representing the community in the media and in teaching regular classes through out various Houston Islamic centers. Mufti Wasim developed a Sunday school in Houston which has now grown to over 70 students in only 6 months. He is also part of many other organizations such as Darul Hidayah, Children of Adam and Al-Naseeha foundation. Mufti Wasim is the Vice-President of his family business, “Caravan Travel” through which he takes regular Hajj and Umrah groups.
